The fruitcake batter was in fact yummy. I'm still getting the baked fruitcake suitably drunk, so I haven't sampled the end product yet.

I like the british version with a thin layer of apricot jam followed by a layer of rolled marzipan and a layer of rolled fondant. Yummy. The drunker the cake, the better. *grin*

Hm, the British version sounds interesting, but I want to experiment with the standard American variation for a while first. Mmmm, marzipan...
